Potosí

From Sucre we got the bus to Potosí, it took about 3 and a half hours. Potosí is at 4200m above sea level, meaning its cold and hard to breath.

We checked into Koala Den hostel which is really nice compared to the grim little hole we stayed in in Sucre - it even has Sponge Bob curtains!

On our first day we walked to a tower on top of a mountain that has a revolving restaurant at the top and panoramic views of the city - but unfortunately it was closed for renovation when we got there! However, not wanting to miss out on an opportunity, we climbed under the fence and went to the top anyway. Aside from the scary savage dogs that chased us, and the old witch lady that shouted at us, the view was wonderful.

On the second day after the mine we went to a karaoke bar and Ric sang 'Hey Jude'. He has the voice of an angel. Kinda...

Had pizza from a restaurant called 'Fanny's'.

We tried on two occasions to visit 'La Casa de la Moneda', a museum/art gallery relating to the mines. On our first attempt the security guard shouted at us and chased us away, and the second time it was shut.

After failing to get a bus ticket to Tarija as planned, we changed plans again and got tickets to Tupiza.

Potosí is rather nice, it could use a good supermarket and a bit more oxygen in the air, but other than that its TICKETYBOO.

Ric's Epilogue: Potosi is unsafe for alcoholics and coke heads and gringoes using the horse, watch out for ketaman as he stumbles and stutters his way past in a ketamized daze as he tries to relocate the toilet and remember how to urinate with his plate of pharmaceutical goodness. Ric adds his vocal chords are peng!
