I got to be a cow girl today and I absolutely effing LOVED IT!!!
Steph and Ric Tours organised an outing to San Lorenzo, a town on the outskirts of Salta, only a 10 minute bus ride away and the bus conveniently stops right outside our hostel door.
San Lorenzo is like the Notting Hill of Salta, the houses were beautiful! Apparently a lot of rich political people live there. We got off the bus and set about looking for a man with a horse. That's man's name was Ruben. We asked about and found a guy, who made a few calls to his mates and eventually got hold of Ruben, who picked us up in his truck and took us to his ranch. He has over 20 horses.
Ruben's 15 year old daughter, Rosa, accompanied us on our ride, she was really friendly and left us to go off racing and galloping about the hills. Stark contrast to Jonathan the moody emo guide we had in Tupiza. (Proof that Steph and Ric Tours are the best.) We had a fantastic 3 hour ride. The horses didn't seem too fond of us though, mine kept walking me into trees and sign posts and Ric's kept trying to head butt him!
Loads of fun. Gona be sore in the morning!
